Description:
Here is the back cover of a 15-page booklet published by the Pennsylvania Railroad entitled "Modern Cars And Locomotives: 1926." Depicted here are "Views of Altoona Works, the principal shops of the Pennsylvania Railroad." Of special note is caption number three: "Locomotive on testing plant, Altoona, Pa." Shown here is engine #790, an I-1S (2-10-0) "Decapod" built in Juniata in December of 1916, rebuilt as an I-1SA in January of 1943, and retired in August of 1956 after 40 years of service.
