Description:
Here is a photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken near Marysville, Pennsylvania, on 30 August 1956. Shown here (R to L) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9618 and two more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by the American Locomotive Company. #9618 was constructed in May of 1951, rated at 1,600 horsepower, and retired in July of 1966 after just 15 years of revenue service. They're about to cross the Rockville Bridge with an eastbound mixed-cargo freight train. Raymond C. Laws Collection.

PRR 9618, AF-16, 1962
Description:
Sweetland. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by David R. Sweetland that was taken in East Altoona, Pennsylvania, in January of 1962. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #9618 and #5753. Both were built by the American Locomotive Company. #9618 is an AF-16 built in May of 1951, rated at 1,600 horsepower, and retired in July of 1966. #5753 is an AFP-20 built in October of 1947, rated at 2,000 horsepower, and retired in September of 1962. Looks to me like both of these units have seen far better days!
