Description:
NYC SW1 657, Union Station, Chicago, Illinois, February 27, 1966, photo by Chuck Zeiler. Built as number 607 in April 1939 (c/n 815) on EMC Order E217, class DES-6b on the NYC, it was renumbered to NYC 657, later to NYC 8455, then PC 8455. It is seen here on the north (Milwaukee Road) side of Union Station, likely transferring storage mail from the NYC to the Milwaukee Road. The Milwaukee held the mail contract between Chicago and the Twin Cities.
