Title:
On the Danbury Branch
Description:
MN 5045 sits at a photo stop on the MN Budd and Branch trip. Steam heat was still the standard, note the leaking steam pipe under the FL 9. Also of note is a New Haven hallmark, the Hancock air whistle, mounted atop the cab between the windshields.

Title:
Not exactly an RDC
Description:
The idea behind the title of MNs "Budd and Branch" trip was that it would run with a pair of RDCs on the ex New Haven branches served by MN. As I recall(30!years later) there was a mechanical issue with the Budd cars, and a pull-pull train powered by FL 9s was run. The cars were an ex Amtrak coach and this SEPTA ex Reading car.
