The word "Minnehaha" rouighly translates as "laughing water" or "waterfall" in the Dakota language. Appropriate for this little depot so close to the Minnehaha Falls. Of course, the name was made famous by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow in his 1855 epic poem, "The Song of Hiawatha." |
