This compromise angle bar was on the Norfolk Southern (former Southern Railway) SAINT LOUIS STREET LINE in New Orleans, near Jefferson Davis – now Norman C. Francis – Parkway. This particular bar enabled the connection of an 85-pound-per-yard American Railway Association (85A) profile rail on the left with a 100-pound American Railway Engineering Association (100RE) rail. A full set of bars for a complete joint consists of bars A-D, and this is bar B. Below the 85A lettering is the word WORN. (approximate date of photo) |
