This is one of the earliest dome cars built by the CBQ for their trains. Originally built by Budd Company in June of 1940 for the CBQ as a flat topped coach car #4709. The CBQ shops rebuilt it into one of the first dome cars in 1949 and named "Silver Castle". After the BN merger, it carried the number BN #3840 before going to Amtrak in 1971. It was retired in 1977. The museum has had it since 2020. |
