The massive Northern Pacific snowplow was built by the Russell Snowplow Company of Ridgway, PA. This particular model looks nearly identical to New York Central's snowplow X-618 built by Russell in March of 1945. I forgot to ask the museum docent some pertinent questions while visiting the unit. The single track plow has snow flanges (or "wings") on either side to help push the snow when they are extended outward.. |
