Here is the first of two original photos by Douglas C. Jones that were taken just East of the Coaling Tipple in East Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1957. Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6831, an M-1 (4-8-2) "Mountain" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during September of 1926 and retired in August of 1955 after 29 years of faithful service. |
