| New Orleans Public Service car 1017 was inbound on the ST. CLAUDE line in the 100-block of North Rampart Street, with the New Orleans Athletic Club building in the background. This car line was replaced by gasoline-powered buses on 1 January 1949, about a year after this photo was taken. Car 1017 had been built by the St. Louis Car Co., in 1926 and was scrapped in 1949, soon after the closure of this car line. (approximate date of photo) |
