Forty-eight-seat dining car 8060 was originally Southern Pacific 10210, and was one of six diners (10210-10215) built by Budd in 1950 for the SUNSET LIMITED. The Espee retained the 10214 as company service car 290, but the other five went to Amtrak as the 8060-8064. The car was photographed leaving New Orleans on the northbound PANAMA LIMTED. It was subsequently upgraded into Heritage Fleet diner 8526 in 1981 and modified into diner-grill 8559 in 1986. |
