A NS South end autorack and a CSX coal train are neck and neck coming through the plant at Howell Wye with both their respective engines roaring in run 8 to get their trains up to speed. Shortly after the scanner crackled to life to announce "clear Howell Wye" a NS unit popped around the curve, but wait! A CSX unit popped out from behind it a second later doing a considerably higher speed but had to make the circuitous journey through the plant. Even after catching an approach at 10th St. the train popped out from behind the buildings right in time! Moments like this is what makes King Plow one of my favorite railfanning spots. |
