Canadian Pacific #2816 crosses over the Arkansas River southbound at Spiro, OK. A small group of us had watched the barge shoving upstream for several minutes while standing in chest high weeds and brush that we did manage to beat down after waiting on the #2816 for several hours. Knowing the 2816 was close by, it briefly crossed my mind that it would be neat to get both in one shot. I quickly dismissed it, as I am not that lucky. Once we were able to hear the #2816 whistiling for a crossing just north of the river, I knew it was going to be close. I had envisioned a perfect meet with the entire barge still back under the bridge as the #2816 crossed overhead, and was originally disappointed that the Capt. Tommy Parrish had photobombed the shot, but as it turns out, it wasn't too bad! |
