Built by Baldwin in March of 1921, B&O 2-8-2 Mikado #4408 served the railroad for nearly 37 years before being retired and scrapped in March of 1958 at Mt Clare, MD. This photo shows it sitting in a storagte/scrap line. Just prior to being scrapped, it was assigned a new number of B&O #410 but probably wasn't actually renumbered before the scrapper's torch hit it. MD. Specs - class Q-4, 64" drivers, 220 psi boiler pressure, 26x32" cylinders, engine wt of 327,400 lb, tractive effort of 63,200 lb. No location, date or photographer was listed for the photo. |
