Title:
NOPSI 1008
Description:
New Orleans Public Service
ST. CLAUDE LINE
car 1008 was on North Rampart Street at Conti on the line’s last day of streetcar operation. This was one of 20 cars which arrived in 1926, and they were the last streetcars purchased by NOPSI. Unlike most of NOPSI’s cars – which only had two motors – cars 1000-1019 had four. These cars were used on several lines until April 1935 when they were assigned exclusively to the
ST. CLAUDE LINE
, and all 20 were scrapped soon after they were replaced by buses on the day after this photo was taken. Mossy Oldsmobile was at 420 North Rampart from 1934 until 1956, when it moved to 1331 South Broad Street
