The drivers view on the 1952-55 built BDe 4/4. 31 units where built, five of it are still remaining. With one of them, the 1646, several times a year railfans can book a special 4 hours trip on the Gotthard route between Erstfeld and Airolo.

BDe 4/4 1646 - SBB Historic
Description:
On a railfan trip the BDe 4/4 stops in the summit of Gotthard tunnel at 1154 m / 3786 ft and we could visit the tunnel line room. Here, the man on duty has his half way break when checking the 15 km / 9.3 miles tunnel. A long walking through darkness wouldn't be a trip for everybody. Soon a freight train dashed along at 125 km/h - 77 mph, nothing for weak nerves !
