Album Info:Here are five original photos that were taken of a single Pennsylvania Railroad locomotive in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, on 9 August 1961. During the second week of August in 1961, the Borough of Hollidaysburg celebrated the 125th Anniversary of its founding in 1836. The Pennsylvania Railroad joined in the festivities by providing a locomotive and five new or just-rebuilt railroad cars for folks to inspect. My friend Thomas Harry Lantz (of Duncansville, Pennsylvania) and I accepted their offer and spent some time inspecting PRR engine #9790. These photos provide some sense of our experiences. Regrettably, I did not photograph either the locomotive itself or any of the other cars on exhibit.
